A Length of Shibori: Lightly Toned Color Details
mid twentieth century
43" x 33", 109 cm x 84 cm
This is a length of indigo dyed shibori which was taken from a yukata or an unlined summer kimono. The cotton is commercially loomed and is hand dyed showing a very crowded field of tie-dye which gives way to a repeat image of a flower and a bud, each one of them very faintly tinted in blue and pink colors.
The short length is fanciful in concept: because it was taken from a stitched garment, it shows ingrained creases from wear.
A lovely length of cotton shibori.
