A Length of Shibori: Intersecting Lines and Tie Dye
mid twentieth century
62" x 13", 157.5 cm x 33 cm
The shibori pattern that decorates this length of indigo dyed cotton is complex, graphic and rich--and it is immediately interesting to the eye.
The length was taken from a yukata, an unlined, casual cotton kimono and it shows intersecting lines inside which are areas of tied shibori: just lovely.
Because this length was taken from a garment that was hand made almost 50 years ago, it shows ingrained creases which may not be able to be completely removed with ironing or steaming.
Still, the condition is bright and the shibori design is beautiful.
