A Length of Shibori: Gradient Blues

$35.00 USD

ca. mid to late twentieth century
36" x 13", 91.5 cm x 33 cm

This piece of shibori is taken from a modern yukata or casual, unlined kimono; the cotton is not hand woven and most likely the indigo is not botanical.  However, the pattern of the shibori is compelling, graphic and appealing.

The shibori is a kind of miura or tie-dyed technique which is done in loose vertical lines down the length of the cloth.  Notice, too, the background: the indigo is gradient "behind" the miura splotches.  There are soft, diagonal stripes of a pale blue in the background of this shibori pattern--quite lovely.

A very nice piece of fairly recent shibori with a good technique and visual appeal.
