A Length of Plaid and Striped Boro Cotton: Three Pieces
$30.00 USD
ca. late nineteenth, early twentieth century
62" x 14", 157.5 cm x 35.5 cm
This length of hand loomed cotton is composed of three separate pieces: two plaid pieces at the top and a long piece of woven striped fabric at the bottom.
The combination of stripe and plaid is lovely, rich and graphic, and certainly tells us about the kind of cloth being hand woven in old Japan.
The striped cloth shows irregular patterns of light fading and a rather prominent tear, but certainly this length will eagerly avail itself to a textile art project or would like to be admired on its own merits.
