A Length of Patched Katazome Cotton: Stylized Chrysanthemums

$85.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
58" x 13 1/2", 147.5 cm x 34 cm

This is a lovely length of indigo dyed katazome cotton that shows a classic repeat pattern of stylized chrysanthemums amid a field of arabesque or karakusa.

The color of this piece is a tone-on-tone effect and if you look carefully at the several detail photos that accompany this post you will see that there are sprays of small holes that populate the surface of this boro length.  They are not visually distracting from the whole.

Wonderful is the are where three, indigo dyed cotton patches which are clustered nicely near the top of the length.

A very attractive boro length, an one with some serious visual charm.
