A Length of Katazome Cotton: Clusters of Grapes
ca. early to mid twentieth century
68" x 13", 172.5 cm x 33 cm
What a refreshing pattern is stencil resist dyed onto this length of lightweight indigo dyed cotton: the pattern is that of grapes superimposed over a lattice motif, a very timely motif as we are nearing the grape harvest time.
This length of katazome cloth is softened from wear and is composed of two, separate pieces which were hand stitched together to form one piece. The color is a lovely medium blue and the surface of the cloth shows some wear. There is a small hole near one of the selvedges.
A happy length of indigo dyed katazome cotton; just lovely.
