A Length of Kasuri Dyed Cotton: Textured
mid twentieth century
71" x 12 1/2", 180.5 cm x 31.5 cm
This length of indigo dyed kasuri cotton shows an elegant, abstract, vertically-based pattern based on dark and light areas which cascade in diagonal bands.
The cotton used to weave the cloth might be from twisted yarns since the length has a kind of nubby or boucle-like texture which is unlike most flatwoven kasuri cottons.
This is a generous length of attractive cotton dyed in an elegant pattern and woven in a fairly unusual manner.
Please note a small hole to the selvedge zone of the cloth which is shown in a detail photo here. It is very hard to see and there are about three of them along the length, none of them noticeable.
