A Length of Kasuri Cotton: Complex and Dimensional Design
$80.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
62" x 12 3/4", 157.5 cm x 32.5 cm
This length of indigo dyed cotton kasuri cloth shows an alluring, weft-based pattern of wavy, undulating, zigzag lines.
The repeat pattern is that of matsukawabishi or a repeated, stylized pine bark design. The pattern is done in two styles one of which is staggered and and composed of parallel lines which is overlaid onto the another version made of one, solid and wide white line.
The result is artistic and beautiful and the large scale of the repeat is boldly modern.
A wonderfully complex design and the length is in good, used condition.
