A Length of Indigo Dyed Striped Cotton: Weft Based Stripes
ca. early to mid twentieth century
60 1/2" x 13 1/4", 153.5 cm x 33.4 cm
This is a beautifully colored length of indigo dyed cotton that is designed with a repeat of woven, horizontal lines along its length.
The indigo is a medium tone, and is soft in color. The weft yarns which create the horizontal stripes are pale orange, white and a darker blue; when intersected by the soft blue warp yarns, the weft stripes become muted in tone and appearance. Just lovely. This length is in very good condition, still very strong and still very able to be employed in a craft or art project, to be used in the home as a table accessory, or to admire on its own, as art.
