A Length of Indigo Dyed Shibori: Undulating Lines
ca. mid to late twentieth century
60 1/2" x 14 3/4", 153.5 cm x 37.5 cm
This lovely length of indigo dyed cotton shibori shows a kind of rising steam or vertically-oriented wave pattern which is rendered in the nui shibori or sewn shibori technique.
Having once been part of a yukata or unlined kimono, there are some embedded creases in the cloth which indicate marks from its former life as a garment.A strikingly graphic length of shibori cotton.
