A Length of Indigo Dyed Cotton Shibori: Large Scale Flower and Arabesque

$40.00 USD

mid twentieth century
44" x 13 1/4", 112 cm x 33.5 cm

This is a length of indigo dyed shibori cotton that was taken from a yukata which is an unlined, casual or summer kimono.

The pattern is of a large-scale: the background is a kind of arabesque rendered in deep blue and there are three, bright white flowers which dominated the ground.

The background color is a pale blue and it is this pale blue ground color which serves to highlight the lovely flowers that enhance the design. There are ingrained creases from its former use as a yukata and a pale, small stain, pictured.

Very pretty.
