A Length of Faded and Worn Shibori Dyed Bast Fiber Cloth: Hemp Leaf Pattern

This length of shibori dyed hemp or ramie cloth is dyed a pale blue tone and shows a good deal of wear both from ingrained dirt, light fading and from ingrained creases which are set into the cloth.

The pattern is that of delicately imprinted diagonal bands of tie dyed shibori in the hemp leaf or asa no ha pattern that appear rather faintly on this faded length.

Although in relatively poor condition the fading and the wear to this length give it a kind of rustic, imperfect beauty that is so attractive in folk textiles.
