A Length of Boldly Graphic Indigo Dyed Shibori: Yukata Piece
mid twentieth century
62" x 13", 157.5 cm x 33 cm
The shibori pattern that decorates this length of indigo dyed cotton is complex, graphic and rich--and it is immediately interesting to the eye.
The length was taken from a yukata, an unlined, casual cotton kimono and it shows intersecting lines inside which are areas of tied shibori: just lovely.
Because this length was taken from a garment that was hand made almost 50 years ago, it shows ingrained creases which may not be able to be completely removed with ironing or steaming.
There is a small cluster of faint stains, shown on the accompanying detail photos--still, the condition is bright and the shibori design is beautiful.
