A Large Tsutsugaki Dyed Cotton Cloth: Unused, Fresh Indigo
$85.00 USD
early twentieth century
58 1/2" x 40", 148.5 cm x 101.5 cm
This is an unused, indigo dyed cotton tsutsugaki textile that shows a central image of a family crest that is presented as a stylized ivy.
This cloth is hand stitched from three panels and it is in new condition, so much so that the color from the deep indigo dye will transfer itself to your hands or to pale, colored surfaces. This must be understood before acquiring this handsome old cloth.
The image itself shows a bit of offset indigo dye which seems natural in this case. This is a boldy designed cloth that is a value for its technique, size and artistry.
