A Hand Carved Wooden Kashigata: Bamboo Shoots
$40.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
16" x 3 1/2", 40.5 cm x 9 cm
This is a kashigata or a hand carved wood mold that is used to make hand-made, traditional Japanese sweets or kashi.
There are two rather large, carved impressions on this mold, each one showing a fairly unusual image of a bamboo shoot.
In nicely used condition--some noticeable patina from wear to the handle--this charming, traditional confectionary tool can still be put to good use.
