A Group of Four Narrow Shibori Fragments: Playful Patterns
mid twentieth century
shorter pieces, each: 34" x 4 1/2", 86.5 cm x 11.5 cm
longer pieces, each: 36" x 7 1/4", 91.5 cm x 8.5 cm
These four narrow lengths of cut cotton are dyed in the shibori method and they were each taken from the collar section of a yukata, an unlined, summer kimono.
Because of this, each has ingrained creases and show some wear, but as they bear wonderful, playful patterns, they beg to be used in a textile art project.
