A Group of Four Katazome Patterns: Indigo Dyed Cotton

$60.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
each piece approximately 8 1/2" x 13", 21.5 cm x 33 cm

This is a vibrant group of four katazome dyed cotton patterns, each a narrow piece from a larger bolt but each showing a floral design which is dyed onto hand woven, hand spun cotton.

The top pattern shows chrysanthemums and peonies, the second one shows peonies and folding fans, the third one shows stylized chrysanthemums and folding fans and the last one depicts beautifully drawn, very full chrysanthemums.

This is a really delightful suite of charming katazome patterns which is presented here in hopes someone who collects katazome or admires this technique will appreciate the diversity of stylization and presentation of subject matter as shown on these fragments.
