A Group of Five Narrow Yukata/Kimono Fragments: Shibori and Katazome
mid twentieth century
each approximately: 57" x 5", 145 cm x 12.5 cm
Shown here are five, narrow lengths of indigo dyed cotton shibori and katazome, each piece of cloth being taken from the collar, or eri, section of a yukata, which is an unlined, cotton summer kimono.
Each of the pieces is of a slightly different dimension from the average size is shown above: pieces from the selection represented here were made in the early to mid twentieth century, and each shows some ingrained creases and fading from wear.
A wonderful sampler and one that can be easily applied to any fashion or art endeavor.
