A Delicately Patterned Resist Dyed Cloth: Two Narrow Pieces
ca. mid twentieth century
longer of the two: 57" x 6 1/2", 145 cm x 16.5 cm
Shown here are two, narrow pieces of beautifully stencil resisted cloth, the pattern being a lyrical and unusually realistic depiction of delicate branches and leaves.
The cotton is heavily starched and the indigo blue is a mid range, or pale, tone. The flow of the blue pattern on the undyed cotton base cloth is simply lovely, and this pair of cut pieces can be put to innumerable good use in art or fashion endeavors.
Really lovely, somewhat unusual in its realistic design, and a refreshing thing to look at in summertime.
