A Charming, Small Layered Pieced Cotton Mat: Swirling Ovals

This charming cotton cloth is pieced from many different cotton fragments.  The face of the cloth is a commercially produced blue and white cotton, while the reverse is comprised of soft and worn flannel cottons primarily.

The relatively small size of this two layered cloth suggests that it could have been used for sitting, or perhaps for a baby to lie upon.  Whatever its original function, the contrast in the design of the front and back textiles is delightful.

Completely hand stitched and just lovely.
