A Boldly Striped Boro Length: Hand Loomed

$40.00 USD

ca. late nineteenth, early twentieth century
63" x 12 1/4",  160 cm x 31 cm

This length of indigo dyed, hand loomed cotton was taken from a futon cover; its wide-striped, warp-based pattern is typical of bedding cottons that were used in old Japan.

The wide stripes are composed of deep blue, white and pale blue warp yarns; the weft yarns are all deeply dyed indigo.

There are two, striped cotton patches loosely hand stitched to this length which add character and attractiveness to this piece of old, hand woven cotton.

Very handsome.
