A Beautifully Colored Sakiori Obi: Soft Colors in Rag Weave

$90.00 USD

mid twentieth century
116" x 6 1/4", 294.5 cm x 16 cm

This is a lovely, gently colored sakiori obi, which is a traditional kimono sash that has been woven with shredded cloth.

The warp yarns of this thickly woven obi are of white, black and orange, and this staggering of colored warp yarns produces a striped effect.  The weft yarns--made of rag--also alternate in color to produce a regular pattern up the obi.  The weft yarns are orange, charcoal grey and lavender.

The obi is in very good condition overall with the exception of one, small, faint stain shown on the detail photos attached.

A really lovely sakiori obi.

Recommended.
