A Beautiful, Reversible Boro Length: Wonderful Katazome Pattern
early twentieth century
67" X 13", 170 cm x 33 cm
This boro length is beautiful on both its sides, both on the patched, boro side as well as on the katazome dyed side.
The katazome shows an interesting, unusual pattern of cloud-shaped arabesques which provide a backdrop for imagined flowers. The cloth, which is hand woven of hand spun cottons, is faded overall. The length is hand stitched from two pieces.
The boro side is wonderful for its layers and for its big blocks of patches, some of which are of the same cloth as the base.
A sturdy length of old cloth, this length shows appeal from both its sides.
