A Ball of Hand Made Rope: Recycled Cotton Rags
$70.00 USD
ca. mid twentieth century
as shown: 5 1/2", 14 cm diameter
length when undone: 176", 447 cm
This ball of hand made "boro" rope which was formed from twisting together scraps of cotton cloth. Because this was home made rope used for daily use, you can see from the photographs here that the rope was used hard.
There are good scraps of old cotton twisted together to make this length of rustic rope, the overall color palette being one of pale tones with some interesting fragments of indigo katazome and kasuri cloth to be seen.
