This is a length of stencil dyed cotton that shows an unusual pattern, one that reminiscent of a kind of Indonesian cloth rather than a traditional Japanese pattern.

The design is a pattern of contiguous triangles separated by a red toned line of stylized wisteria leaves; the triangles contain wavy lines that might mean to evoke autumn grasses and some kind of floral motif. The base color is brown.

The back of the length is interesting for its color which is primarily a soft blue and this is shown on the last detail photo here: this "wrong" side is beautiful and certainly worth enjoying.

There is one hole to the piece as shown in a photo that accompanies this post.

Unusual and lovely.
