A Length of Indigo Dyed Cotton Katazome Cloth: Autumnal Roundels

$65.00 USD

early twentieth century
39" x 12 3/4", 99 cm x 32.5 cm

This is a length of deep indigo toned, fairly heavily woven cotton that has been dyed in the katazome method.

It is autumnal in design as it shows roundels that contain maple leaves, late summer or autumn grasses and chrysanthemums. The placement of these along the length of this cloth is gracious and thoughtful.

The design is well-considered and contains the boldness of large-scale patterns used in old Japan for bedding.

This is a charming length of old katazome cotton that speaks to the season we are now in.
