A Length of Deeply Toned Kasuri Cotton: Geometry
$45.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
30" x 13 3/4", 76 cm x 35 cm
This dark indigo-toned length of hand woven, heavy weight cotton was woven in the kasuri or ikat method where yarns are resisted and dyed before they are woven in order to create a pattern, design or image.
In this case we see horizontal rows of X shaped images, some interlocking, some single. The design is subtle and close in tone to the background.
A handsome length of kasuri cotton woven with a traditional, Japanese pattern.
