A Two-Panel Indigo Dyed Cotton Boro Textile: Layered Patching

$185.00 USD

early twentieth century
68" x 25 1/2", 173 cm x 65 cm

This beautiful indigo dyed cotton, two panel boro textile was no doubt taken from a futon cover. Its component parts were recycled from older pieces of cotton.

There are six individual pieces of old cotton that are hand stitched together, the center portion of beautiful, hand spun cotton was once part of a garment.

Studding the surface of this boro cloth are 16 patches, some of them layered one on top of the other which gives a beautiful visual effect.

The cloth is threadbare and giving along the center, vertical seam, however this is only visible when the cloth is held against the light.

Really beautiful and with good age and great, old cotton.
