A Boro Sleeve: Commercially Milled Cotton

$55.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
50" x 12", 127 cm x 30.5 cm

This is a lovely and subtle length of boro cotton that is hand stitched from two separate pieces.

It shows a very nice arrangement of patches on the length with two overlapping ones on the top piece and another on the bottom piece, each showing very good mending stitches.

It was said that this was a sleeve to a juban or undergarment and judging by the size and shape of this length that seems to be the case.

A lovely textile from old Japan.
