A Tall Piece Constructed Cotton Boro Bag: Drawstring

$80.00 USD

early twentieth century
18" x 9" x 9", 46 cm x 23 cm x 23 cm

This long and tall drawstring bag is hand stitched from scraps of old cotton cloth which was a traditional way to make household bags in old Japan.

This one is constructed from four panels of cotton that are stitched together with thick, white thread. The bag is shown inside-out for a better view of its construction but also because the patched repairs can be more easily seen--and as this is an attractive attribute of the bag it is important to show it.

The bag is still very usable and can easily be transformed into a pillow or it can be used, as is, for storage or decoration.

A wonderful old bag from traditional Japan, this shows nice, old cottons and good mending.

Wonderful, and of good size.
