A Pieced Length of Indigo Dyed Cotton Katazome: Patched

$90.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
56" x 13 1/4", 142.25 cm x 33.5 cm

This faded length of indigo dyed cotton katazome cloth is hand stitched from 5 separate pieces--the "fractured" repeat as it appears here has visual appeal.

The surface has seen a good amount of wear and the indigo tone has dulled very nicely. The pattern is that of stylized chrysanthemums and arabesques--and note the striped patch peaking out on the side of the cloth.

This cloth is old and if you are able to see it in real life its texture and its weave will announce this fact quite noticeably.

Lovely.
