A Padded Cotton Kasuri Sodenashi: Vest

$75.00 USD

ca. early to mid twentieth century
34" x 15", 86.25 cm x 38 cm

This is a long, padded, cotton sodenashi or vest, which is fully lined in a deep, purple colored cotton.

The vest itself is hand stitched from various pieces of a lovely kasuri cotton showing narrow bands of blue, yellow and brown stripes, the brown stripes being the kasuri or ikat ones, and they show evenly distributed flecks of white.

The fill is cotton wadding.  The condition of this piece is very good in that it is devoid of stains and does not show a great deal of wear.  Note the purple cotton lining shows some hand stitched repairs which were done during the life time of the garment.

A lovely thing with good color.
