A Lovely and Unsual Length of Egasuri Cotton: Hand Woven

$65.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
52" x 12", 132 cm x 30.5 cm

This length of indigo dyed cotton kasuri cloth is beautifully--and softly--worn and slightly faded.

The fading of the indigo reveals the "structure" of the kasuri yarns that make up this piece: what is meant by this is that radiating from the white images woven into the cloth are dark lines, which clearly show the kasuri process of using yarns which are resisted before they are dyed and woven.

The images on this piece are hard to describe, especially the two which look like a house or a lantern.

Still, this is a lovely length of hand woven, indigo dyed kasuri cloth of good quality and with interesting visuals.
