This is a wonderful looking boro textile, and one that has a strong visual presence and a great deal of inherent character.

It shows very good patching and stitching, has good size, an artful arrangement of patches and is rich in "soulfulness," which reads loud and clear in the photos presented here.

At first this heavily layered, patched and mended cloth looks to be an irregularly-shaped rectangle--which it is.  But look closer.

In actual fact, this boro textile, which is composed of about four or five layers, is hand stitched from an opened and re-configured boro kimono.  On the proper left you can see evidence of the collar and front panel area of the kimono, and on the proper right is the over half of the kimono which is inverted.  Fascinating.

This is a very curious and very attractive boro textile and one whose both sides are interesting to look at.

A gem, and something wonderful for someone who collects boro cloth or would like to start a collection.

Very recommended.
